In the eighth grade, I had been given an assignment to determine what I wanted to do with my life and give a report. After receiving that assignment, I went to the emergency room for a hand fracture. The ER physician, also my uncle, set my hand. I was amazed by how the pain stopped so quickly once the fracture was set. It was then that I decided I would become a physician. Being a doctor gives me the opportunity to help people, to give them hope. I am here when they need someone to listen to them. I’m able to give them new ideas on how to deal with their health concerns, including those that seem complicated or challenging or that need a fresh perspective. I also feel blessed to practice family medicine, which gives me the ability to approach each patient’s health with an informed perspective and direct involvement in their health history. Knowing my patients is important to the quality of their care… and one of the great joys in my life. I became a physician because I wanted to make a difference. For me, this means striving always to provide the highest quality of care and the most focused, personalized and compassionate attention I would want for my own family.
